I guess it’s enough to say – Beyoncé.
You don’t have to love her music, but it’s really hard not to notice her, no matter where you live. Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is an R&B superstar, singer, and songwriter as well an actress. She started her singing career very early, but maybe the most important step forward happened while she was part of the Destiny’s Child. They were active as the group from 1997 to 2002 (2006) and in that period, they produced many hits with most notable being: “Survivor”, “Bootylicious”, “Say My Name”, “Independent Women Part One”, “Bills, Bills, Bills”.
Their music was also used also as a soundtrack in many movies, series and shows with the notable ones being:
- “Men in Black” (1997) – “Killing time”
- “Charlie’s Angels” (2000) – “Independent Women Part I” and “Dot”
- “Power Rangers” (2017) – “Survivor”.
After such a successful start, there was no way back for her. She continued with a solo career and is still active. Once more, we were blessed with mega-hits like:
- “Baby Boy” (with Sean Paul 2003)
- “Crazy In Love” (with Jay-Z in 2003)
- “Irreplaceable” (2006)
- “If I Were A Boy” (2008)
- “Halo” (2008)
- “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” (2008)
- “Telephone” (with Lady Gaga in 2009).
Sorry if your favorite song is not on the list, but there is simply too many 😊
Personal life and activism
I won’t go into details here. She’s in a long relationship with Jay-Z (Shawn Corey Carter) that turned into marriage in 2008. They have 3 kids together and they are both very successful in what they do best, with hundreds of millions of albums sold all over the World.
She was supporting candidate of the Democratic Party in 2008, 2012 and 2016 U.S. presidential elections. She performed the Etta James classic “At Last” on January 20, 2009, at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama while they shared their first dance. There was a lot of symbolism in that song and in the fact that at last, American voters chose a black man for president.
OK, Beyoncé is great and everything but – where are the stamps?
Many countries have issued stamps and sheets devoted to Beyoncé. Many of these countries may seem exotic to the people living in the Americas or Europe and that is one more proof how her popularity isn’t restricted by borders. While doing this research, I came across many beautiful stamp and sheet designs, from Africa mainly, and I feel I need to say that one of the most beautiful sheet designs I came across were Birds / Fauna / Insects sheets issued in Chad in 2017. I personally encourage you to take a look at it. I won’t go much into technical details here because all of these stamps are pretty new and the story behind the motif is pretty obvious. This time just look at the stamps and enjoy the beauty of the original motif.
Kyrgyzstan is a country in Central Asia that gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. In 2003, Kyrgyzstan issued two 9-stamp sheets related to Beyoncé. You can easily notice that the first one is “Beyoncé-only”-sheet while she shares her place on the second sheet with other stars.Denomination on all stamps is 20c. “c” comes from the Cyrillic letter “c” (Latin letter “s”) and is short of “som” which is the name of the Kyrgyzstan currency.

Somalia is the country located in the Horn of Africa. Today it’s unfortunately well-known for wars, hunger, and pirates, but that hasn’t prevented them from issuing a Beyoncé-related sheet. The sheet contains 4 stamps with a same denomination of 2500 Somali Shilling.
Chad (French: République du Tchad) is a country in Central Africa. As you could guess from its name, Chad is a former French colony and gained its independence from France in 1960. This allowed for a lot of things, one of them being Beyoncé related stamps. That happened in 2017 as seen below. Stamp denomination is 1000F (Central African Franc).
Central African CFA Franc (XAF) and West African CFA Franc (XOF) are used in several countries in Central and West Africa and are guaranteed by the French treasury.
Central African Republic
We’ll move a little south from Chad now, to the Central African Republic. I guess it’s clear from its name, where it’s located. It also got its independence from France in 1960.
In 2013, Central African Republic issued sheet with 4 stamps in order to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s 95th birth anniversary. Each stamp has a motif on Nelson Mandela with another famous person and has a denomination of 900F (CAF – Central African Franc).

We’ll move a little more to the south again. Now we’re in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It gained its independence from Belgium in 1960. Belgian Congo and Zaire are some of the names that were also used in the 20th century.
DR Congo issued two stamp sheets devoted to Beyoncé. The currency used in DR Congo is Congolese Franc.

9 stamps sheet, denomination 150 CF
We’ll move a little to the southeast and now we’re in Mozambique. It also issued stamps that include the star of this article, but this time she shares the sheet with others. Mozambique is a former Portuguese colony that gained its independence in 1975. The currency used in Mozambique is Mozambican Metical and stamps on the sheet have a denomination of either 16MT or 66MT. It’s notable to mention that Mozambique is the only country in the World that has AK-47 (better known by its designer name, Mikhail Kalashnikov) on state emblem and flag.

Sierra Leone also joined our club. It’s located in West Africa and it gained its independence from the United Kingdom in 1961. The currency used is Leone and below we can see two 250 Le Beyoncé stamps.
We’ll stay in West Africa and move a little to the North and West. We’re now in Guinea. It gained independence from France in 1958. In 2007 the sheet below was introduced. Stamp denomination is 25.000 FG (Guinean Franc).
This sheet was a part of a larger set of stamps/sheets issued by Guinea on 19.11.2007. Other sheets were also related to stars like John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Elizabeth Taylor, Bruce Lee, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Brigitte Bardot, Luciano Pavarotti, The Rolling Stones, Sting, Robbie Williams and many others.
Moving a little more to the Northwest will bring us to Guinea-Bissau. This former Portuguese colony declared its independence in 1973. It’s also one of the countries that use CFA as a currency. We can see Beyoncé on two stamp sheets. The first one she shares with 8 other stars, while on the 2nd one she owns the only stamp.

Today we’ve seen really everything, Beyoncé from Kyrgyzstan to Guinea Bissau, on sheets with Fidel Castro and Fergie. I have nothing more to add, so I better stop here.
